Tuberculosis Treatment
Tuberculosis (TB) is a contagious bacterial infection caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis, most commonly affecting the lungs, though it can spread to other organs such as the kidneys, spine, and brain. TB spreads through airborne droplets when an infected person coughs or sneezes. Common symptoms include a persistent cough lasting more than 2 weeks, fever, night sweats, weight loss, chest pain, and coughing up blood.
At our hospital, we offer expert diagnosis and treatment of both pulmonary TB (lung infection) and extra-pulmonary TB (infection in other organs). Diagnosis begins with a thorough medical history, chest X-ray, sputum smear microscopy, CBNAAT/GenXpert test, and in some cases, blood tests or biopsy for extra-pulmonary TB.
Once diagnosed, TB treatment involves a standardized course of anti-tubercular therapy (ATT), which typically lasts for 6 months or more. The treatment includes a combination of antibiotics such as isoniazid, rifampicin, ethambutol, and pyrazinamide in the initial phase, followed by a continuation phase. It is crucial to take the full course of medications without interruption to ensure complete cure and prevent drug resistance.
For drug-resistant TB (MDR-TB/XDR-TB), advanced treatment protocols with second-line medications are followed under expert supervision.
We provide:
DOTS (Directly Observed Treatment, Short-course) to ensure patient adherence.
Regular follow-up and monitoring for side effects or complications.
Nutritional guidance and immune support to enhance recovery.
Patient and family counseling to reduce stigma and promote awareness.
Our experienced team of pulmonologists and infectious disease specialists ensures accurate diagnosis, complete treatment, and ongoing support. With timely and effective care, TB is curable. We are committed to helping our patients recover fully and lead healthy lives free from tuberculosis.
