COPD
Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is a progressive lung condition that includes chronic bronchitis and emphysema. It is most commonly caused by long-term exposure to irritants like cigarette smoke, air pollution, chemical fumes, or dust. COPD leads to inflammation and narrowing of the airways, making it difficult to breathe. Common symptoms include persistent cough, mucus production, shortness of breath, wheezing, and fatigue.
At our hospital, we offer comprehensive diagnosis and treatment for COPD to improve patients’ breathing, reduce symptoms, and enhance quality of life. Diagnosis begins with a thorough clinical evaluation, followed by lung function tests such as spirometry, chest X-rays or CT scans, and blood tests to assess oxygen levels.
COPD has no cure, but with timely and proper management, its progression can be slowed, and symptoms can be controlled effectively. Treatment typically includes bronchodilators (inhalers) to open the airways, corticosteroids to reduce inflammation, and oxygen therapy for patients with low blood oxygen levels. In cases of bacterial infections or exacerbations, antibiotics and supportive medications are used.
Pulmonary rehabilitation is a key part of COPD care, combining exercise training, nutritional advice, and counseling to help patients stay active and manage their condition. Smoking cessation is critical for preventing further lung damage, and we offer personalized support programs to help patients quit.
In severe cases, surgical options such as lung volume reduction or lung transplantation may be considered.
Our team of expert pulmonologists and respiratory therapists works closely with each patient to provide a personalized, long-term care plan. We are committed to helping COPD patients breathe easier, stay active, and live a better, healthier life through compassionate and evidence-based care
